A double flat or double sharp note in music is a note within a scale writen as a double flat or sharp for the purpose of the alphabetical order each scale follows. These notes are found in theoretical scales and keys, meaning there is an equivalent scale or key that is preferred due to it being easier to transcribe in standard music notation.
